The short answer
Poshmark leaves the seller more only in a band from about $12.30 to about $20.02. Below it eBay's small per-order fee beats Poshmark's flat $2.95, and above it Poshmark's 20% is well over eBay's 13.6%.
The table is fees only, with no item cost. The buyer pays $6.49 shipping on both. On eBay your label costs the same, but eBay takes its percentage of the shipping as well.
| Item price | Poshmark fee | You keep on Poshmark | eBay fee | You keep on eBay | Keeps more |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $2.95 | $7.05 | $2.64 | $7.36 | eBay |
| $14.99 | $2.95 | $12.04 | $3.32 | $11.67 | Poshmark |
| $15.00 | $3.00 | $12.00 | $3.32 | $11.68 | Poshmark |
| $20.00 | $4.00 | $16.00 | $4.00 | $16.00 | Equal |
| $25.00 | $5.00 | $20.00 | $4.68 | $20.32 | eBay |
| $50.00 | $10.00 | $40.00 | $8.08 | $41.92 | eBay |
| $100.00 | $20.00 | $80.00 | $14.88 | $85.12 | eBay |
Computed by the Poshmark and eBay calculators. Poshmark uses direct deposit, which is free, and eBay uses the most categories rate with no sales tax.
How Poshmark charges
Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 when the final order price is under $15.00, and 20% of the price from $15.00 up. Shipping is not part of the price: the buyer pays a flat $6.49 for a prepaid USPS Ground Advantage label.
Discounts matter because of that. If a buyer's offer brings a $25.00 listing down to $20.00, the commission is $4.00 and you keep $16.00.
The fee is worked out on the order price after any discount you give. At $10.00 the flat fee takes 29.5% of the price, and at $100.00 the 20% takes 20%.
The threshold effect
The flat fee is a cliff, not a band. A $14.99 sale pays $2.95, but a $15.00 sale pays $3.00, because the percent starts at the threshold.
Raising the price by one cent therefore leaves you with less: $12.00 instead of $12.04. You only get back to what you kept below the threshold at $15.05, where you keep $12.04.
In practice, price just above the threshold with care. If a $14.99 listing is right for the buyer, leaving it there keeps more than $15.00 does, and the extra cent does not pay until $15.05.
| Item price | Poshmark fee | You keep on Poshmark | eBay fee | You keep on eBay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $14.99 | $2.95 | $12.04 | $3.32 | $11.67 |
| $15.00 | $3.00 | $12.00 | $3.32 | $11.68 |
| $15.05 | $3.01 | $12.04 | $3.33 | $11.72 |
The dead zone is the prices from $15.00 up to $15.04, where you keep less than at $14.99. eBay has no such step, so its keep rises with every cent.
How eBay charges
eBay takes a final value fee on the total of item price, shipping and sales tax, plus a per-order fee of $0.30 on orders of $10 or less and $0.40 above that. Listings are free up to 250 a month, then $0.35 each, which is not in the receipt.
eBay buyers pay the shipping you set, and in this comparison that is the same $6.49 Poshmark charges. Poshmark's published buyer charge is that flat label, so the buyer's total is the same on both.
Because eBay's percentage is lower, the larger the sale the more eBay leaves you: at $100.00 you keep $85.12 against $80.00 on Poshmark.
On a $25.00 item the eBay fee is $4.68, which is 14.9% of the buyer's total, against $5.00 on Poshmark.
What to list at for the amount you want
Work backwards from what you need to keep. The table gives the price on each site that leaves you the amount shown, using Find price in each calculator.
To keep $50.00 you list at $62.50 on Poshmark and $59.35 on eBay. Poshmark's price is the higher one there, because its 20% takes more of each extra dollar than eBay's 13.6%.
| You want to keep | Poshmark list price | eBay list price | Poshmark price minus eBay price |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $12.95 | $13.06 | -$0.11 |
| $20.00 | $25.00 | $24.63 | $0.37 |
| $50.00 | $62.50 | $59.35 | $3.15 |
Same assumptions as above: direct deposit on Poshmark, buyer-paid shipping on both, no item cost.
Payouts and what the tables leave out
- Poshmark payouts. Direct deposit is free, PayPal or Venmo is $0.35, Instant Transfer is $2.00.
- Poshmark Texas tax. Sellers with a Texas return address pay a tax on 80% of the commission, from 1 Oct 2025.
- eBay Store plans, which lower some category rates, and Promoted Listings.
- Sales tax, which eBay charges its fee on in the US and these figures leave out.
