Mercari fees, answered
How much does Mercari take from each sale?
On a $25.00 item with $7.99 buyer-paid shipping, Mercari's selling fee is $3.30 (10% of the $32.99 the buyer pays for item and shipping). It is 10% of the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays, with no listing fee and no payment processing fee.
Do Mercari sellers pay a fee?
Yes. Mercari's own fee page says sellers pay 10%, since 6 Jan 2025. Some sites say sellers pay no fee; Mercari's own fee page says 10%, so that is what this calculator uses.
Is the Mercari fee charged on shipping?
When the buyer pays for shipping, yes: the 10% fee is charged on the item price plus that shipping. When you pay for shipping, the fee is on the item price only, so the same $25.00 item costs $2.50 in selling fees.
What is the Mercari buyer fee?
The buyer pays a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee on the item price plus shipping, which is $1.19 on the default sale. It is added at checkout and does not reduce your payout, so the calculator shows it and what the buyer pays ($34.18) without counting either.
Does Mercari charge a payment processing fee?
No. Mercari removed the separate payment processing fee on 6 Jan 2025, and the selling fee is the only fee taken from a normal sale. Listings made before that date are updated to the current fees automatically.
How much does a payout cost?
Direct deposit is free and typically takes up to 5 business days. Instant Pay costs $3.00 a payout, up to $600 a month and once a day, which leaves $12.70 instead of $15.70 on the default sale. A failed direct deposit costs $2.00, which the calculator does not include.
Is Promote a fee?
No. Promote asks you to lower the price by 5% or more and Mercari states no separate fee. To see its effect, enter the lower price in the calculator.
What do shipping labels cost?
Mercari sets label prices by carrier and weight, with a Best rate and a Standard rate, and new label rates took effect on 19 Oct 2026. Enter your own label cost, or the shipping the buyer pays, in the calculator.
Are there other Mercari fees?
Mercari can charge a cancelation fee of 5% up to $25 to sellers who cancel often. It is not part of a normal sale, so the calculator leaves it out.
How do I price an item to hit a profit target?
Switch the calculator to "Find price", then set the profit or margin you want. It solves for the item price that leaves exactly that after every fee, using the same rounding as the main calculator.

How we checked every number
Every number on this page comes from one data file, checked against Mercari's own help pages on 19 Oct 2026. The calculator, the worked example, the table and the FAQ all read from it, so they cannot disagree.
Fees are rounded to the cent one at a time. Where a Mercari page was unclear or we could not confirm a rate, we left the option out instead of guessing.
What we could not confirm or do not model
- Some sites say Mercari sellers pay no fee; Mercari's own fee page says 10%. We use the 10% from Mercari's page and re-check it on every update.
- Listings created before 2025-01-06: Mercari says they are updated automatically within about a week, so we apply the 10% to every sale.
- Shipping labels: Mercari publishes a Best rate and a Standard rate per carrier and weight, and the rates change often. We did not capture the full table column by column, so you enter your own label cost.
- Who pays for the label is chosen per listing, so you choose it with the shipping field. With buyer-paid shipping we assume the label costs exactly what the buyer paid.
- Promote: Mercari asks for a price cut of 5% or more and states no separate fee. We treat it as a lower item price, not a fee, and do not model a paid-ads product.
- Rounding: Mercari does not publish a rounding mode, so each fee is rounded half up to the cent.
- Not modelled: the failed direct deposit fee, the cancelation fee for frequent cancelations, Authenticate fees and sales tax.
- Mercari Japan is not covered.
