The short answer
At default settings the two are a near tie, and neither wins by more than $3.32. We checked every whole-dollar price from $20 to $1,000: GOAT keeps more at 91 of them, StockX at 882 and 8 are level to the cent.
GOAT is ahead on cheaper pairs, and StockX from about $121.00 up, because StockX adds a fixed minimum fee at the low end and GOAT's cash-out fee grows with the sale.
The table is fees only, with no item cost. StockX uses Level 1 with the balance payout, and GOAT uses a rating of 90 and above, a prepaid label and cash out on.

How StockX charges
StockX takes a transaction fee set by your seller level, plus 3% payment processing, both on the final sale price. In the US there is also a minimum transaction fee of $5.00, which is what Level 1 pays on any sale under $55.56.
Shipping is deducted from your payout. We use $5.00, StockX's estimated base rate for one item, which varies with price, size, carrier and location.
Your level comes from your sales in a calendar quarter and is kept for the current and the following quarter. Level 2 needs 12 sales or $1,500 in a quarter.
| Level | Transaction fee | Needed in a quarter | All StockX fees | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 9% | Starting level | $35.00 | $215.00 |
| Level 2 | 8.5% | 12 sales or $1,500 | $33.75 | $216.25 |
| Level 3 | 8% | 40 sales or $5,000 | $32.50 | $217.50 |
| Level 4 | 7.5% | 200 sales or $25,000 | $31.25 | $218.75 |
| Level 5 | 7% | 800 sales or $100,000 | $30.00 | $220.00 |
Level 1 is the starting level. Fees include 3% processing and the estimated shipping.
How GOAT charges
GOAT takes a commission set by your seller rating, charged only when the item sells. At 90 and above it is 9.5%, and it rises to 15% from 70 to 89, 20% from 50 to 69 and 25% below 50.
A fixed seller fee per order depends on your region and shipping method. In the US that is $0.00 for drop-off and $5.00 for a prepaid label.
Cashing out by ACH or PayPal costs 2.9% of your earnings from the sale, and you can only cash out once your total balance is over $25.00. A rating starts at 90, loses 10 for each cancellation and gains 2 for each sale.
| Rating | Commission rate | Commission | All GOAT fees | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 90 and above | 9.5% | $23.75 | $35.17 | $214.83 |
| 70 to 89 | 15% | $37.50 | $48.52 | $201.48 |
| 50 to 69 | 20% | $50.00 | $60.66 | $189.34 |
| Below 50 | 25% | $62.50 | $72.79 | $177.21 |

A StockX debit card payout costs $2.54 at this price, from a 2% rate with a $1.95 minimum.

What the tables leave out
- Other regions. StockX also works in the UK, Canada and Hong Kong in the calculator, with their own minimum fee and shipping rate. GOAT lists 51 regions with their own seller fee.
- Listings and Live on StockX, and Flex storage fees, which are not part of one standard sale.
- GOAT cancellation and replica fees, a possible Canada cash-out exemption and promotions, none of which GOAT's fee page confirms.
- Sales tax, any VAT on fees, and the cost of the item itself.
