Full walkthrough

On eBay Australia, a private seller without a Pro plan sells free up to A$25,000 in sales over 12 months. There is no final value fee to work out, so the sum is short.

Questions sellers ask

eBay fees for Australian sellers, answered

Is selling on eBay Australia free?

For many private sellers, yes. A private seller without a Pro plan pays no final value fee while their sales are A$25,000 or less over 12 months, and gets 250,000 free listings a month. On the A$49.95 order above that means no eBay fee: you keep A$28.45 after A$21.50 of item cost and postage.

What happens when I pass A$25,000 in sales?

Selling above that falls under eBay's Pro plans, which have their own fees. eBay's Pro selling fee page is published, but the rates are only partly confirmed, so this calculator does not work them out. Check your own rates on eBay Australia's Pro selling fees page before you pass the limit. Spread evenly, A$25,000 a year is about A$2,083.33 a month.

How do I work out my profit on an eBay Australia sale?

Take what the buyer pays, then subtract what the item cost you and what you paid for postage. eBay takes nothing from a private sale under the limit. Here that is A$49.95 minus A$21.50 of costs, which leaves A$28.45, a 57.0% margin. Change the item price, cost and label in the calculator, or use "Find price" to work back from the profit you want.

Is there a currency conversion fee on eBay Australia?

Yes. eBay Australia lists a 3% currency conversion fee, and it rises to 3.25% on 1 Nov 2026. The calculator does not add it to the receipt, because it depends on the currencies involved.

What is changing on eBay Australia next?

Three changes are logged. Currency conversion rises from 3% to 3.25% on 1 Nov 2026. On 3 Nov 2026, sale proceeds for free selling go to an eBay balance account. From 11 Nov 2026, eBay offers prepaid labels for free selling. None of these change the fee on a single sale in the calculator.

Does GST apply to eBay fees in Australia?

We have not confirmed it. The eBay Australia pages we read do not state how GST applies to fees, so every figure here leaves GST out. If you are registered for GST, check your eBay invoices for the GST shown on fees.

How many listings can I make for free?

A private seller without a Pro plan gets 250,000 free listings a month on eBay Australia. The page we read does not state a listing fee after that, so we do not show one.

How we checked every number

Every number on this page comes from one data file, checked against eBay Australia's own fee pages on 19 Oct 2026. The calculator, the worked example, the tables and the FAQ all read from it, so they cannot disagree.

Where eBay Australia did not publish something, such as complete Pro plan rates, we left it out instead of guessing. The calculator covers the private seller case.

What we could not confirm or do not model

  • eBay Australia: Pro plan rates are only partly confirmed, so Pro calculations are not offered.
  • Currency conversion changes on 1 November (Australia) and 1 December 2026 (UK) are shown in the change log and the fee table but not applied to the receipt.
  • GST: the pages we read do not say how GST applies to eBay fees, so every figure leaves it out.
  • The page does not say a listing fee after the 250,000 free listings, so none is shown.
