Stripe takes a percent of the amount the customer pays. Each fee is rounded to the smallest unit of INR on its own, and amounts here are in INR.
Here is one payment from the calculator above, worked through. A customer pays ₹5,000.00 with the domestic card to a Stripe account in India.

Stripe fees in India, answered
What are the Stripe fees in India?
On a payment of ₹5,000, a card issued in India costs 2%, which is ₹100.00, so you keep ₹4,900.00. A card issued outside India costs 3%, which is ₹150.00. Stripe's page names Mastercard and Visa for these rates.
Does Stripe charge a fixed fee per payment in India?
Not in the rates Stripe lists. Both card rates are a percent only, so a ₹500 payment costs ₹10.00 and a ₹50,000 payment costs ₹1,000.00 on a domestic card. The share Stripe takes stays at 2% at any size.
Can anyone use Stripe in India?
Stripe's India page lists access by invitation, with a "Request an invite" button. Check that your account is eligible before you plan around these rates. This calculator shows the rates Stripe lists and cannot tell you whether you qualify.
Does Stripe charge for currency conversion in India?
Stripe adds 2% when a payment needs currency conversion. That is on top of the 3% for a card issued outside India, so a payment of ₹5,000 costs ₹250.00 (₹150.00 card fee plus ₹100.00 conversion). A card issued in India shows no conversion fee.
Do debit cards cost more or less than credit cards on Stripe in India?
Stripe's page also mentions a capped Merchant Discount Rate for domestic debit card payments, but it does not say how that works with the 2% rate. We could not confirm it, so the calculator applies only the 2% rate to every card issued in India.
What is the Stripe dispute fee in India?
Stripe charges ₹1,000 for each dispute you receive. On a payment of ₹5,000 that is 20% of the payment, and it takes what you keep from ₹4,900.00 to ₹3,900.00 before the disputed payment itself, which is held and lost unless you win.
Are there instant payouts or bank debits on Stripe in India?
The pages we read list no instant payout fee and no bank debit fee for India, so the calculator offers neither. It models card payments, currency conversion and disputes. Other methods and products carry their own rates and are not covered.
How much should I charge to keep a set amount after Stripe fees in India?
To keep ₹5,000 from a card issued in India, charge ₹5,102.04. From a card issued outside India with currency conversion, charge ₹5,263.15. Switch the calculator to Find price and it solves this for any card or dispute.

How we checked every number
Every number on this page comes from one data file, checked against Stripe's own India pricing page on 20 Oct 2026. The calculator, the worked example, the tables and the FAQ all read from it, so they cannot disagree.
Fees are rounded one at a time. Where Stripe's page was unclear or we could not confirm a rate, we left the option out instead of guessing.
What we could not confirm or do not model
- Stripe shows pricing by the visitor's location, and the US page was read with the country set to the United States. A visitor in another country may see a different page.
- India's page also says domestic debit card payments carry a Merchant Discount Rate of 0.4% capped at ₹200. It does not say how that interacts with the 2% rate, so only the 2% rate is offered. Access in India is by invitation on Stripe's page.
- Stripe does not say how it rounds each fee. The calculator rounds each fee half-up to the cent. Stripe's UK page calls its accelerated checkout "Onelink" in places, at the same rates as cards.
- Where a card has an international surcharge it is shown as its own line on top of the domestic rate, as Stripe lists it. Where Stripe lists a separate total rate, that rate is used.
- An instant payout fee is worked out on the amount paid out. The calculator assumes you pay out this payment's net amount after processing fees, in the same currency.
- A dispute adds Stripe's dispute received fee. If you respond manually there is a countered fee of the same amount, which Stripe returns when you win. The disputed amount itself and the optional Smart Disputes fee are not modelled.
- Manually entered cards, in-person Terminal and Tap to Pay, Klarna and other local methods, Stripe Billing, Tax, Invoicing, Connect and Managed Payments have their own rates and are not modelled.
- Stripe lists access in India by invitation ("Request an invite"). Check that your account is eligible.
