Three steps to listing-ready photos
- 1Drop your photosAdd as many product photos as you like, straight from your phone or camera. They open right here, on your device.
- 2Pick a size and a lookChoose the exact pixel size, then fit the product with padding, fill and crop, or keep the original shape. Turn a plain backdrop white and nudge brightness.
- 3DownloadSave one photo or the whole batch as a ZIP. Each file is shrunk to fit the size limit you set, with location data removed.
Why marketplaces want square, clean photos
Listings with clean, consistent photos look more trustworthy, and a grid of same-shaped pictures is easier for a buyer to scan. Many marketplaces also ask for a square or near-square main image, a minimum size and a plain background, and they can reject or crop photos that miss it.
A phone photo is usually 4:3 and several megabytes, with a messy tabletop behind the product. Padding it to a square, giving it a white background and shrinking the file takes a few minutes by hand for one photo and hours for a whole shop. Doing a batch at once keeps every listing the same.
Every marketplace sets its own rules and changes them. Always check the current photo guidance on the marketplace before you upload. This tool gives you the controls, and the rules are yours to confirm.
What the white background tool can and cannot do
The white background tool is built for products shot on a plain, light backdrop such as white paper, a light table or a lightbox. It reads the backdrop colour from the edges of the photo and turns everything connected to it pure white, so it works best with even light and a clear gap between the product and the background.
It is honest about its limits. A busy or dark backdrop, a product the same colour as the backdrop, and see-through or very thin items such as glass and wire will not come out well. Holes that the backdrop shows through, such as the inside of a handle, stay as they were. For those photos a proper cutout tool is the right answer, and one is planned.
Your photos stay on your device
Your photos are opened, edited and saved inside this page, on your device. They are not uploaded, stored or sent anywhere, and nothing about them is tracked.
Photos often carry hidden details such as the exact place and time they were taken. Every file this tool saves is a fresh copy with that metadata removed, including GPS location, camera details and the original timestamp. Close the tab and your photos are gone.
Product photos for your listings
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The photos are opened and edited by your own browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe to use with unreleased stock, and it keeps working on a weak connection once the page has loaded.
How do I make a product photo square?
Choose a custom size with equal width and height, then pick Fit with padding. The whole photo stays in the frame and the leftover space is filled with white or a colour you choose. If you would rather lose the edges than add padding, pick Fill and crop and drag the photo to choose which part stays.
How does the white background work?
It looks at the colour around the edges of the photo, then replaces every connected area of that colour with pure white. A tolerance slider decides how close a colour must be, and a feather slider softens the edge of the product. It works best on a plain, light backdrop with even lighting. It is not an AI cutout, so busy backgrounds need a different tool.
Can I keep the file under a size limit?
Yes. Pick a maximum file size and the tool tries different JPEG or WebP qualities until it finds the best-looking one that fits. The pixel size stays exactly what you asked for. If a photo cannot fit even at the lowest quality, you are told so, and you can lower the pixel size or choose a higher limit.
Why does my iPhone photo not open?
iPhones can save photos as HEIC, and not every browser can open that format. Safari usually can. If yours cannot, change the phone camera setting to Most Compatible (Settings, Camera, Formats), or share the photo as a JPEG, and drop it in again.
Which marketplaces does it have presets for?
Presets for eBay, Etsy, Amazon, Shopify, Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop, Poshmark, Mercari, Vinted, Depop, Facebook Marketplace. A preset sets a sensible size and look for that marketplace. The page shows what the marketplace itself says, with a link to its page, and keeps that apart from our own default choices, which are labelled as ours. Where a marketplace publishes no photo size, we say so. Rules change, so always confirm the current photo requirements on the marketplace before you list.
What size should my Amazon main image be?
Amazon says the longest side must be at least 500 and at most 10,000 pixels, and that 1,000 pixels or more turns on zoom. The main image needs a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), with the whole product in frame filling 85% of the image. The Amazon preset starts at our own default of 2000 x 2000 pixels with white padding and the product at 85%, and checks your saved file for pure white.
What size should my Etsy photos be?
Etsy recommends listing photos with a width and height of at least 2000 pixels, with the first photo at least 635 pixels so it does not show up lower in searches. It also warns that images over 1 MB may not finish uploading on a slow connection, and that transparent areas appear black. The Etsy preset starts at our own default of a 2000 x 2000 square with white padding, saved as a JPEG under 1 MB.
