Whatnot fees for Canada sellers, answered
How much does Whatnot take from a sale in Canada?
On a C$30.00 trading card with C$5.99 shipping from a Canada seller on the Standard tier, Whatnot's fees come to C$3.74, which is 10.4% of the C$35.99 the buyer pays. That is C$2.40 commission at 8% plus C$1.34 payment processing.
Is there a free Whatnot fee calculator for Canada sellers?
Yes. This page is one. It opens in CAD with the Canada commission and processing rules already set, so you can change the price, your category and your tier and see what you keep. It needs no account and no payment.
What is Whatnot's commission rate in Canada?
It depends on your category and your tier, and your total sales over the last 4 weeks set the tier. Trading cards start at 8% on the Standard tier and fall to 6.5% at C$85,000 or more in 4 weeks. On the C$35.99 order that would leave you C$19.20 instead of C$18.75. The Standard rate is the same as the 8% US sellers pay.
What is the Whatnot payment processing fee in Canada?
2.9% plus C$0.30 per order. It is charged on the full amount the buyer pays: item, shipping and tax. With 10% sales tax on the example order, processing rises from C$1.34 to C$1.45. Commission is not charged on shipping or tax.
Does Whatnot charge fees on sales tax in Canada?
Processing does. Whatnot charges 2.9% plus C$0.30 on everything the buyer pays, which includes shipping and tax. Commission does not: it is charged on the item price only. Use the sales tax field to include tax in the processing fee. The Whatnot pages we read state no separate tax rule for Canada, so none is added.
Does the Whatnot high-value order promotion apply in Canada?
Not as far as Whatnot's pages say. The promotion lists the US, the UK, Australia and the EU markets, and Canada is not among them, so the calculator charges the normal commission on the whole item price. If Whatnot adds Canada, this page will change with the data.
Are Whatnot fees higher in Canada than in the US?
The Standard commission on trading cards is 8% in Canada and 8% in the US. Processing is 2.9% + C$0.30 here and 2.9% + $0.30 in the US. The comparison table runs a typical sale in each country through the same engine.

How we checked every number
Every number on this page comes from one data file, checked against Whatnot's own help pages on 19 Oct 2026. The calculator, the worked example, the tables and the FAQ all read from it, so they cannot disagree. The Canada rates are the "Canada" column of Whatnot's seller fee page.
Fees are rounded one at a time. Where a Whatnot page was unclear or we could not confirm a rate, we left the option out instead of guessing.
What we could not confirm or do not model
- Electronics is not a separate category in the new commission card and Whatnot does not say where it falls, so it is not offered. It is probably under Other, but that is unconfirmed.
- Rates as low as 3% are custom and set by an account manager, so they are not offered.
- The tier bounds are listed per market without a currency, so we read them as sales in that market currency.
- Canada and Australia state the processing fixed fee as "$0.30" without naming the currency. We show it in local currency.
- The high-value promotion lists Canada nowhere, so it is not applied to Canadian sales. It lists subcategories only for Sports, Fashion, collectibles and Other, so those need the "Listed subcategory" switch.
- Boosts and other Promote tools are bid or budget based with no price list, so they are not offered.
- Cancellation fees and Japan are not covered.
- The Whatnot pages we read state no VAT or sales tax rule for fees in Canada, so no tax is added to commission or processing. Buyer sales tax only enters the calculator as part of the processing base, through the sales tax field.
