Full walkthrough

Etsy charges a flat listing fee, a transaction fee on the item and shipping, and payment processing on the whole order. Some shops also pay a regulatory operating fee, and any sale that comes through an Etsy Offsite Ad adds an advertising fee on top. Each fee is rounded to the cent on its own, so the pennies matter when you add them up.

Here is one sale from the calculator above, worked through. A US shop sells an item for $25.00 and charges $4.99 shipping, so the buyer pays $29.99.

  • Buyer pays$29.99
  • Listing fee$0.20 flat per listing, charged when you create or renew a listing, whether or not it sells-$0.20
  • Transaction 6.5%6.5% of $29.99 (item + shipping)-$1.95
  • Payment processing3% of $29.99 + $0.25-$1.15
  • Item cost-$6.00
  • Shipping label-$4.50
  • You keep$16.19

Etsy took $3.30 in fees, which is 11% of the sale. If the same order came in through an Offsite Ad, the advertising fee would add $4.50 and you would keep $11.69. The Offsite Ads line works out as 15% of $29.99 (sale total), capped at $100.00 per order.

Offsite Ads is 15% under $10,000 USD in 12-month sales and 12% at $10,000 USD or more. A tilde means an approximate conversion from US dollars (European Central Bank euro foreign exchange reference rates, cross-rated to US dollars, 19 Oct 2026; Bank Al-Maghrib reference exchange rate (Cours de reference), US dollar, average, 16 Oct 2026; State Bank of Vietnam central exchange rate, VND per US dollar, 19 Oct 2026). Where Etsy states the fee in US dollars, the amounts are in US dollars.

Questions sellers ask

Etsy fees, answered

How much does Etsy take from each sale?

On a $25.00 item with $4.99 shipping from a US shop, Etsy's fees come to $3.30 (11% of the $29.99 the buyer pays). That is the listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing. Offsite Ads, currency conversion and regulatory fees only apply in some cases.

What is the Etsy transaction fee?

The transaction fee is 6.5% of the item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer, and gift wrap if you offer it. Because shipping is included, free shipping that you build into the price is charged the same way as a separate shipping line.

What does Etsy charge for payment processing?

It depends on your shop country. A US shop pays 3% plus $0.25 per order, a UK shop pays 4% plus £0.20. Canadian shops pay 3% plus C$0.25 on domestic orders and orders from the US, and 4% on orders from outside Canada and the US. The percent applies to the full order, including shipping and any sales tax.

How does the Offsite Ads fee work?

If a buyer clicks one of Etsy's ads on another site and buys from you within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order, or 12% if your shop made $10,000 USD or more in the last 12 months. Under $10,000 USD it is 15%. The fee is capped at $100 USD per order. Etsy's own pages disagree on two details, the 12 month window and whether shipping counts toward the base, so we follow the legal fee policy and say so in the methodology below.

What is the regulatory operating fee?

It is an extra percent of the order that Etsy charges in some countries to cover local regulation. Current rates, checked 19 Oct 2026: United Kingdom 0.48%, Canada 0.5%, France 1.14%, Italy 0.8%, Spain 0.88%, India 0.05%, Hungary 1.97%, Türkiye 1.67%, Vietnam 1.24%. For example, a UK order of £29.99 pays £0.14 at 0.48%.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee, payment processing and any regulatory or Offsite Ads fee are all worked out on the item price plus the shipping you charge. The shipping label you pay a carrier for is a cost to you, not a fee, so it comes out of your profit separately.

How do I price an item to hit a profit target?

Switch the calculator to "Find price", then set the profit or margin you want. It solves for the item price that leaves exactly that after every fee, using the same rounding as the main calculator. Because fees are a percent of the price, the price rises faster than the profit you ask for.

Which countries does the Etsy calculator cover?

61 shop countries, taken from Etsy's own payment processing table. Pick yours under Shop country, grouped by region. Where Etsy publishes a different rate for domestic and international orders (Australia, Canada and New Zealand), switch on Intl order. That is every Etsy Payments location (61 of 61).

Does this calculator include sales tax or VAT?

No. Etsy charges payment processing on the order total including sales tax, so on taxed orders processing will be a little higher than shown. VAT on Etsy's own fees depends on your business status and country, and Etsy does not publish a single rate.

How we checked every number

Every number on this page comes from one data file, checked against Etsy's own pages on 19 Oct 2026. The calculator, the worked example, the table and the FAQ all read from it, so they cannot disagree.

Currency conversion adds 2.5% when you list in a currency other than your payment account currency. Offsite Ads is 15% under $10,000 USD in the last 12 months and 12% at $10,000 USD or more. A tilde in the table means Etsy states the amount in US dollars and we converted it at an approximate rate (European Central Bank euro foreign exchange reference rates, cross-rated to US dollars, 19 Oct 2026; Bank Al-Maghrib reference exchange rate (Cours de reference), US dollar, average, 16 Oct 2026; State Bank of Vietnam central exchange rate, VND per US dollar, 19 Oct 2026).

The calculator covers 61 shop countries from Etsy's payment processing table. That is every Etsy Payments location, 61 of 61. For the dirham and the dong, which the European Central Bank does not publish, we use the Bank Al-Maghrib and State Bank of Vietnam reference rates.

Where Etsy's pages disagree or say nothing

  • Etsy does not document how it rounds. We round each fee to the cent, half up, and add the rounded fees.
  • Offsite Ads base: Etsy's legal page says the total order amount (item, shipping and gift wrap), while a help article says the amount made from the sale before the advertising fee. We use the legal page.
  • Offsite Ads 365-day window: the legal page says it is checked on the first day of each month, a help article says any consecutive 365 days. Pick the tier you expect to be in.
  • Regulatory operating fee base: the help article says item price, shipping and gift wrap, while the fees overview says it excludes tax collected by Etsy. We charge it on item plus shipping and ignore tax.
  • Canada regulatory operating fee: Etsy's help page shows 0.50%. Some seller blogs show 1.15%. We use the official figure.
  • Payment processing is charged on the total including shipping and sales tax. This calculator has no tax field, so processing can read a little low on taxed orders.
  • Fees quoted in US dollars (the listing fee and the Offsite Ads cap) are converted to other currencies at an approximate rate. Etsy converts at its own market rate.
  • VAT on Etsy fees depends on your business status and country and is not included.
  • Etsy Canada: the higher international processing percent applies to orders from outside Canada and the US. Orders from the US pay the domestic rate.
  • Shops in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Egypt, Georgia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Peru, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates: Etsy publishes the processing fee in US dollars, so the calculator works in US dollars for these shops, even if your payment account is in another currency.
  • Several countries also have a minimum deposit and a deposit fee. Etsy lists them in a separate table for Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, South Africa and Turkiye. This calculator does not include deposit fees.
  • Exchange rates for fees stated in US dollars come from the European Central Bank reference rates of 19 Oct 2026, cross-rated to US dollars. The ECB does not publish the dirham or the dong, so Morocco uses the Bank Al-Maghrib reference rate (16 Oct 2026, the latest published) and Vietnam the State Bank of Vietnam central rate (19 Oct 2026). They are approximate, so those amounts are labelled "about".
  • Vietnam payment processing: Etsy's payment processing help article lists 11,500 VND and the Fees and Payments Policy table lists 11,550 VND. We use the help article, as for every other country.
  • Currency decimals: the Indonesian rupiah is 2 decimals in ISO 4217 but Etsy states its fixed fee as 7000 IDR, so we show and round IDR to whole rupiah, like the Vietnamese dong (0 in ISO 4217). Fees there round to the whole unit, which Etsy does not document.
