support@numford.comFAQ
1. What is DeskPort?
DeskPort turns your phone into a desktop PC on an external monitor or TV connected by USB-C. The monitor shows its own desktop with a taskbar, start menu and floating windows, while your phone stays usable as a touchpad and keyboard.
2. What is Shizuku, and is it safe?
Shizuku is a free, open-source app that lets other apps use limited system features after you approve them. DeskPort uses it to start apps on the external display. It only grants access to apps you allow, and you can revoke access any time in Shizuku.
3. Why do I need to turn on Developer options?
Shizuku starts through Wireless debugging, which lives inside Developer options. This is a one-time setup. The built-in setup helper in DeskPort walks you through each step.
4. Does DeskPort need root?
No. No root, no unlocked bootloader and no custom ROM.
5. Which phones work?
Phones with USB-C video output (DisplayPort over USB-C) work, including phones whose system only mirrors the screen, such as many vivo, iQOO, Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, OPPO, realme, OnePlus, Nothing, Tecno and Infinix models. DeskPort checks compatibility first.
6. How do I check whether my phone has USB-C video output?
Open DeskPort and run the compatibility check. You can also check your phone's spec sheet for "DisplayPort", "video output" or "USB-C display". If you are unsure, try a USB-C to HDMI adapter or USB-C to USB-C cable with a monitor.
7. What cable or adapter do I need?
Either a USB-C to USB-C cable (if your monitor has a USB-C video port) or a USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort adapter or cable that supports video.
8. Do I need to set up Shizuku again after restarting my phone?
Yes. After each phone restart, open Shizuku and tap Start. DeskPort will then work as before.
9. Will the monitor just mirror my phone?
No. The monitor shows its own desktop at the monitor's native resolution, and your phone keeps its own screen for normal use.
10. Can I use a mouse and keyboard?
Yes. USB and Bluetooth mice and keyboards are supported. Without them, your phone works as a touchpad and keyboard.
11. Does it get hot or drain the battery?
Driving an external display uses more power and can warm the phone. Charging while connected is recommended, and keeping the phone out of direct sun and cases that trap heat helps.
12. Why does video not play in some apps?
Some apps, such as certain streaming apps, use DRM protection and may not play video inside windows. This is a limit set by those apps, not by DeskPort.
13. My phone's navigation buttons stop responding. What do I do?
If your phone's navigation buttons disappear: turn off Force desktop mode and the freeform window developer options, then restart the phone. If they only stop responding, restart the phone.
14. What is free and what is Pro?
Free includes the desktop, touchpad, taskbar, start menu and 2 windows. Pro is a one-time purchase (no subscription) and adds up to 6 windows, snap layouts and per-app window memory, all themes and customization, multiple virtual desktops, the shortcut editor, the laser pointer and presenter timer, and the full notification centre on the monitor. Free shows your latest 3 notifications and the presenter Next and Previous buttons. Pro starts with a 7-day free trial that begins the first time you connect a monitor.
15. How do I get a refund, and what data do you collect?
Refunds and purchase problems are handled by Google Play: open the Google Play purchase history, pick DeskPort and request a refund under Google's policy. DeskPort has no account and no ads, and collects no personal data. DeskPort sends no crash reports. Contact: support@numford.com
